[PDF] Continuous Casting of Steel | Semantic Scholar
Continuous casting is used to solidify most of the 750 million tons of steel produced in the world every year. Like most commercial processes, continuous casting involves many complex interacting phenomena. Most previous advances have been based on empirical knowledge gained from experimentation with the process. To further optimize the design and improve the continuous casting process ...

In continuous casting, liquid steel is transferred in a ladle to the casting machine. When the casting operation starts, the sliding shutter(滑动闸板) at the bottom of the ladle is opened and the steel is poured into a double walled, bottomless water cooled mould where a solid skin is quickly formed and a semi-finished skin energy from the open mould bottom.
Continuous Casting - an overview | ScienceDirect Topics
The principle of the continuous casting method is simple (Figure 1.8.1).The liquid steel in a ladle is transferred to the casting machine. When the casting operation starts, the nozzle at the bottom of the ladle is opened and the steel flows at a controlled rate into the tundish and from the tundish through a submerged entry nozzle (SEN) into one mold or several molds.
Continuous Casting of Molten Steel | SpringerLink
Molten steel is solidified in the mold of a continuous casting process after refining. A tundish and an immersion nozzle are installed upstream of the mold. Nonmetallic inclusions and fine bubbles still remaining in the molten steel are designed to be removed in the tundish.
Basics of Continuous Casting of Steel - Steel casting process
Continuous casting is a method that was invented to enhance the production of metals. The continuity of the casting helps to lower the cost of the casted steel. Further, it helps in the standardized production of steel cast. Further, the carefully controlled process also reduces errors leading to better quality steel casts.
Steel - Continuous casting | Britannica
Steel - Steel - Continuous casting: About 55 percent of the world's liquid steel production is solidified in continuous casting processes, the most widely used of which feeds liquid steel continuously into a short, water-cooled vertical copper mold and, at the same time, continuously withdraws the frozen shell, including the liquid steel it contains.
